I need to put together my pictures and videos, but in the meantime, let me tell you the secret to my sanity. I felt prompted to homeschool years ago, and we've tried lots of different curricula and programs, but it was all so much work, and it never felt like my kiddos were learning enough.
Then I downloaded a booklist from Jenny Phillips. It is SUCH a great resource for finding books of high moral and literary value, without the filth. And then I decided to go ahead and try Jenny's free The Good & the Beautiful Language Arts curriculum. I didn't expect too much for a free curriculum, but it looked nice and fit in the budget. I was blown away!! It's so GOOD and so BEAUTIFUL!! The name is perfect for the product. My kiddos started learning so fast without feeling like anything was too hard. And one day, my son got all teary-eyed while reading a sweet family story, and told me, "Wow, I didn't know you could feel the Spirit during school." We have now used The Good & the Beautiful for a couple years, and it never ceases to amaze me. It is the best educational tool I have found, and it teaches Christian morals and values at the same time. The LA also incorporates beautiful artwork and art instruction and geography, so I don't have to worry about adding in subjects that usually get neglected! And guess what else. It's open-and-go. No prep for me. Ahhhhh. I get to just enjoy it with the kiddos (and I'm learning a LOT!).
